No Kings rally coming to Northampton on Saturday

NORTHAMPTON — A No Kings rally is being held on the steps of Northampton City Hall Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

Organized by the Young Feminist Party Amherst, alongside youth activists Alice Jenkins and Joey Pisani, the protest is part of a national day of action organized by Indivisible in response to what are allegedly to be authoritarian excesses and corruption of the Trump administration.

Historic Deerfield offers inside look at Stebbins House project

DEERFIELD — Historic Deerfield is inviting the public inside the walls of history for a rare behind-the-scenes look at the Asa Stebbins House as it undergoes restoration, on Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

This Federal-period landmark built in 1799 was the first brick home in Deerfield and remains one of the finest examples of rural Federal architecture in New England. This open house offers an opportunity to witness the meticulous investigation process required before an architectural restoration, including clues in exposed historic framing, original paint colors, decorative finishes, and historically significant design choices.

There are 16 different stations throughout the first floor that describe the questions experts are investigating and the discoveries historians are making at the house. These discoveries will shape future work as Historic Deerfield restores this important house. The Stebbins House will be open to the public as well on June 11-15, June 19-22, and June 25-29, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for these special tours.
