NORTHAMPTON — An Easthampton man pleaded not guilty to in Hampshire Superior Court on Friday to 35 charges related to the dissemination of child pornography and child sexual abuse material.

Liam Galpin, 22, is facing seven counts of possession of child sexual abuse material, 26 counts of dissemination of visual materials depicting a child in a state of nudity or in sexual conduct, one count of dissemination of bestiality and one count of attempting to commit a crime by unauthorized use of a computer system.

According to the Northwestern district attorney’s office, detectives from the Easthampton and Northampton police departments were alerted about Galpin via cypertip reports made by Microsoft to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Galpin was arrested last Thursday, before appearing in court on Friday for his arraignment.

Galpin is being represented by attorney Jonah Goldsmith of the Committee for Public Counsel Services, and the case is being prosecuted by assistant district attorney Anne Yereniuk, who is also deputy chief of the district’s Child Protection Unit. The two parties agreed to request a bail of $10,000 with the conditions that Galpin live with a relative and have no contract with children under the age of 18. Judge Bertha Josephson approved the recommendations.

Galpin graduated from Hampshire Regional High School in 2020. He most recently appears to have attended Holyoke Community College and was active in theater production at the school, playing the title role in a stage adaptation of the “The Great Gatsby” last spring.

Galpin will next appear in court on Jan. 14.
