Edith Audette’s huge three-point day propelled the Belchertown field hockey team to a 3-1 win over Franklin Tech on Tuesday afternoon.

A year ago, the Orioles fell 2-1 in heartbreaking fashion to the Eagles in the Western Mass. Class B semifinals. This season, they’ve beat Franklin Tech twice by a combined score of 7-2. Belchertown head coach Dina Brunetti mentioned at the beginning of the year that her team was excited to get revenge against the Eagles, and it’s done just that as it improves to 11-4 this season.

Audette, Kina Roy and Kian Roy each scored goals for the Orioles while Audette added a pair of assists to lead the offense. Sophomore goalie Morgan Sambor made five saves in the cage in the victory.

Hampshire 1, Mohawk Trail 1 — Holly Kowalcyzk netted the Raiders’ lone goal on an assist from Chloe Moynihan.

Hampshire goalie Ryleigh Simmons had 10 saves in the draw.

Girls soccer

Hampshire 7, Palmer 0 — After taking a 1-0 lead into halftime, the Raiders’ offense erupted for a half dozen goals in the second half to coast to a win on Tuesday.

Libby Puttick put home four goals, Shayne Moynahan (two assists) added two goals and Maggie Lashway scored one for Hampshire. Karaghan Rogalski made seven saves in the shutout victory.

Smith Voc 6, Westfield Tech 0 — Caitlin Willard scored four goals while Monique Fredette and Erin Miller added one apiece as the Vikings won in convincing fashion on Tuesday.

Pope Francis 2, South Hadley 0 — Cara Dean made 10 saves in goal for the Tigers, which fell 2-0 on Tuesday.

Hopkins 1, Ware 0 — Ephie Vissas buried the Golden Hawks’ game-winning goal on an assist from Layni Bailey.

Emmy Schmidt made two saves to earn the shutout victory.

Boys soccer

PVCICS 3, Hampden Charter 0 — The Dragons defended their home turf on Tuesday afternoon, defeating visiting Hampden Charter 3-0.

PVCICS got goals from Nolan Gage (2) and Patrick Canavan-Gosselin while Rafi Razmi recorded an assist. PVCICS keeper Damian Loinaz made 8 saves to earn the shutout.

Gateway 2, Greenfield 0 — Theo DeAngelis-Page tallied what would stand as the game-winning goal for the Gators off an assist from Vitaly Chepurenko.

Jackson Renaud added an unassisted goal to make it 2-0 while Zack Hess’ seven saves in goal preserved the Gateway shutout.

Girls volleyball

Smith Voc 3, Granby 0 — The Vikings were clicking on all cylinders in an easy win over the Rams on Tuesday evening. Smith Vocational recorded a whopping 23 aces in the win.

Set scores were 25-10, 25-22, 25-10.

Abby Desrochers (four aces, one kill and two digs), Roma Bentrewicz (nine aces, seven assists and one kill) and Jaelyn Kulas (three digs, two kills and one ace) helped lead the way for the Vikings.

Belchertown 3, PVCA 2 — It was as close as a match gets between Belchertown and PVCA on Tuesday evening, with the Orioles edging out a five-set win.

Set scores were 25-20, 24-26, 25-22, 21-25, 15-11.

Layla Liminski (16) and Gianna Picardi (13) combined for a massive 29 kills, Vivian Ross dished out 31 assists while Liminski (eight) and Ross (seven) combined for 15 aces. Cassidy MacLean, Melina David and Abby Almeida each put down four kills for Belchertown.

Easthampton 3, Holyoke 1 — The Eagles cruised in the first set before experiencing a bump in the road in set No. 2. Still, Easthampton took care of business to win in four sets on Tuesday.

Set scores were 25-8, 25-27, 25-13, 26-24.

Camilla Corsello had a team-high 13 kills and Lidie Buttrick added eight, Addison Sigda (five aces) dug up 27 balls and Summer Routhier dished out nine assists and recorded six aces for the Eagles.. Brooke Skowron had 10 assists and nine digs as well.

Longmeadow 3, Frontier 1 — The Redhawks fell in four competitive sets to the Lancers on Tuesday. Set scores were 25-19, 22-25, 25-16, 25-23.

Frontier’s Olivia Machon put down eight kills, Abigail Hernandez had six kills while Ariana Miller and Emilie Candaleria had four apiece. Parish Stilla dished out 22 assists.

Cross country

Frontier 15, Greenfield 50; Frontier 15, Smith Vocational 50 (girls) — Sylvie DiBartolomeo was the winner with a time of 17 minutes, 40 seconds while the Redhawks had the top six finishers to earn a pair of wins over the Wave and the Vikings on Tuesday in South Deerfield. 

The pair of wins helped Frontier close out a 13-0 regular season campaign, one that saw it go 8-0 in Pioneer League North meets to take the league championship. It’s the second year in a row the Redhawks were unbeaten in league meets.

Frontier 18, Greenfield 40; Frontier 15, Smith Vocational 48; Greenfield 19, Smith Vocational 42 (boys) –Redhawk Luke Howard placed first (15:26) followed by teammates Evan Hedlund (15:27), Charlie Dennis (15:28) and Oliver Brown (15:43), helping Frontier secure a pair of wins in South Deerfield on Tuesday. 

Hengxi Yue (eighth, 17:10) and Adam Paul (ninth, 17:15) also placed in the top 10 for the Redhawks.

Ludlow 20, Amherst 35 (boys) — Calvin Miller took home second place with a time of 17:06 to earn the Hurricanes’ fatest time of the day. Nico Lisle (17:30  ) grabbed sixth for Amherst as the  team’s next finisher

Sam Woodruff (eighth, 17:37), Peter Nedeau (ninth, 17:51) and Alden Pope (10th, 18:03) rounded out the top 10 finishers for the ‘Canes.

Northampton 15, Chicopee 46; Northampton 15, Belchertown 46 (girls) — To no surprise, the O’Neil sisters grabbed the top two spots on Tuesday afternoon, with Maeve crossing the line first with a time of 20:09 and Mairead close behind in 20:20.

Tess Geis-Benton (23:01), Emmi Warren (23:02), Mia Jones (23:58) and Zoe Engel (24:12) helped Northampton sweep spots 3-6 while Belchertown’s Kylie Fitzgerald (25:05) took eighth and Serena Jones (25:41) earned ninth.

Northampton 27, Belchertown 28; Northampton 19, Chicopee 42 (boys) — Ben Killip-Leonard cruised to a first-place finish with a time of 18:21, 29 seconds faster than the next competitor.

Julian Remick (18:59) came in third for the Blue Devils while Dahiell Kruckemeyer (eighth, 19:12), Acer Verson (ninth, 19:39) and Asher Dixon (10th, 19:57) rounded out their top 10 finishers.

Emmett Howard (19:01), Noah Les (19:04) and Ben Les (19:05) finished fourth, fifth and sixth for Belchertown.

Granby 20, Westfield Tech 39 (girls) — Addy Hill won the girls race in 21:57 to lead the Rams to a decisive win on Tuesday.

Grace Cooney (22:06) earned second and Quinn Cook (22:25) grabbed third. Adelynn Zimmer (sixth, 26:17) ran a strong race as well for Granby.

Granby 24, Westfield Tech 33 (boys) — Nathan Hutchinson won the race in dominating fashion in 17:45 and Trevor Sullivan ran a solid race to grab second place with a time of 18:33 to pace the Rams.

Nathan Bens on (19:37) earned fourth while Colby Carleton (20:00) took fifth for Granby.
