High Schools: Frontier boys soccer defeats Wahconah, 3-0

Late goals in the first and second half proved to be the difference for the Frontier boys soccer team against Wahconah on Tuesday.
The Redhawks broke the scoreless deadlock in the 39th minute to take a lead into the half. Frontier then proceeded to score twice in the final 15 minutes to walk away with a 3-0 win over the Warriors at Herlihy Park in Whately.
Gus Radner scored on a free kick in the 39th minute before Ben Cachiguango tallied off a pass from Radner in the 65th. TJ Donovan closed out the scoring off an assist from Max Millette in the 79th minute.
Pioneer 1, Hopkins 0 — The Panthers scored in the 74th minute to defeat the Golden Hawks in Hadley Tuesday.
Granby 2, Sci-Tech 0 – The Rams moved to 4-2-1 on the season thanks to goals from Tristan Moe and Riley Goodhind. Gavin Moreno and Sam Moure picked up assists and goalie Daniel Santiago made four saves.
PVCICS 0, Duggan 0 – The Dragons controlled the game and its major stat categories but couldn’t put one in the back of the net. Goalie Damian Loinaz made four saves, including a crucial stop in the final minute.
Smith Academy 1, Gateway 0 – Jack Brady scored off an assist from Cajun Benson in the 34th minute, and that was all the scoring the Falcons needed on Tuesday. Smith Academy goalie Jake Wilcox made just a single save while Gateway goalie Zach Hess made a dozen.
South Hadley 4, Agawam 1 – The Tigers exploded in the second half to break open a 1-1 tie and secure their fifth win of the year. Allison Fleury tallied a goal and an assist, Hannah Haesaert recorded two assists, and CC Gurek, Emma Levreault and Maggie Evans scored. Goalie Olivia Athas made 13 saves.

Smith Voc 185, Hopkins 188 – Pat Gougeon and Dom Crouchier each hit 44s to secure a tight win for the Vikings, who also got contributions from James Lavallee (48), Pat Milin (49) and Jack Larochelle (49).
The Golden Hawks were paced by Ryley Regan (38), who earned medalist honors, followed by Jack Dyjach (47), Chace Earle (51) and Laney Crutch (52).
Frontier 154, Ware 199 — Ryan Cetto was the medalist with a 35 while Cam Skiffinton also impressed with a 38, leading the Redhawks to a win at Cherry Hill Tuesday.
Porter Hall (40) and Brady Wood (41) rounded out the scorers for Frontier.
Smith Voc 3, Commerce 0 – Smith Voc won its fourth straight match Tuesday afternoon, taking down Commerce 25-22, 25-23, 25-18. Heidymar Diaz-Lopez tallied six aces, 10 assists, three digs and five kills, Hecmarie Diaz-Lopez recorded four aces, two assists, two digs and two kills and Roma Bentrewicz totaled six aces, four assists, two digs and three kills.
East Longmeadow 3, Easthampton 1 – The Eagles fell 22-25, 25-23, 16-25, 22-25 on Tuesday. Lidie Buttrick made nine kills and Kierra Carson added seven more. Brooke Skowron tabbed 12 assists and Summer Routhier recorded 10. Addison Sigda led Easthampton with 11 digs.
Amherst 15, Chicopee 50 – Alden Pope took first (18:59) to send the ‘Canes to 4-1 on the season. Myles Redington (second, 19:03), Calvin Miller (third, 19:04), Owen Platt (fourth, 19:04), Sam Woodruff (fifth, 19;05), Nico Lisle (sixth, 19:05), Ian Burns (seventh, 19:06) and Holden Castenson (eighth, 19:06) outpaced all other runners by more than a minute.
Smith Voc 21, Mahar 37; Smith Voc 22, Easthampton 39; Smith Voc 15, Franklin Tech 50; Easthampton 27, Mahar 28 – The Vikings swept on Tuesday, led by Theo Wojcik, who finished the 3.1-mile course at Mahar in first place at 19:00. Smith Voc’s Cole Mattison-Gulotta (third, 20:11), Riley Millay (sixth, 22:30) and Ezra Dorrant-West (10th, 22:36) also placed in the top 10.
Easthampton’s Will Jourdain placed second to lead the Eagles, followed by Roman Powers-Moran (fourth, 21:04).
PVCICS 15, Hampden Charter East 50; PVCICS 28, Mohawk 29; PVCICS 23, Southwick 33 – The Dragons swept all three opponents, including a nailbiter over Mohawk. Grafton Tolopko won in 17:24 and set a new course record, followed by Owen Bauman (fifth, 18:10), RJ Allen (seventh, 18:12) and Asa Taggert (10th, 18:43).
Belchertown 16, Westfield 47 – Ben Les won Tuesday’s 3.1-mile race at Stanley Park in 18:06, followed by Noah Les at 18:44. The Orioles also took three of the next four spots, thanks to Emmett Howard (third, 18:49), Cian Lindsay (fourth, 19:44) and Colin Mullen (sixth, 19:58).
Northampton 14, Minnechaug 44 – Pranav Belur took first, edging teammate Xander Lane, who placed second. Both finished in 18:37. Blue Devils Dahiell Kruckemeyer (third, 19:27), Acer Verson (fourth, 19:35), Asher Dixon (seventh, 20:21), Henry Callan (eighth, 20:21), Henry Daggett (ninth, 20:22) and August Hindle (10th, 20:45) placed in the top 10.
Amherst 16, Chicopee 47 – Brooke Nedeau took first place for Amherst in 23:11, followed by Genevieve Dole just a second later. Lillian Pope took third and Marit MacDonald took fourth, both at 23:33, followed by Skylar Fox (sixth, 24:18), Elizabeth Sawicki (seventh, 24:33) and Addie Mager (eighth, 24:40).
PVCICS 17, Southwick 46; Mohawk 29, PVCICS 30 – Though the boys beat Mohawk by one point, the girls fell by one, but took home a win against Southwick. Mohawk filled the podium, but PVCICS was right behind with Sarah Fardal (fourth, 21:23), Ellery Maier (fifth, 21:33), Eunice Lo (sixth, 22:52), Cathy Chang (eighth, 23:11), Emma Vasovic (ninth, 23:39) and Althea Turner (10th, 24:30) placing in the top 10.
Westfield 25, Belchertown 32 – The Orioles’ top five runners were Kylie Fitzgerald (third, 25:21), Aubrey Harrington (fourth, 26:53), Katherine Dorman (sixth, 27:06), Serena Jones (seventh, 27:33) and Margaret Wheeler (14th, 31:07).
Frontier 15, Hopkins 50, Frontier 15, McCann Tech, 50; McCann 15, Hopkins 50 – Frontier’s Sylvie DiBartolomeo took first (21:56), but Hopkins Academy’s Caprial DiBartolomeo took second (22:35), with Liv Christensen (23:02) rounding out the podium. Frontier’s Maia Christensen took fourth (23:59) and teammate Phoebe Radner took fifth (24:04).
Gateway 21, Monson 34; Gateway 20, Westfield Tech 35 – Gateway’s Anya Niles took first (22:32) at the 2.9 mile course on Gateway’s campus, followed by teammate Ava Christie in 22:43. Laurel DeMoss placed sixth (25:25), Lily Peloquin placed seventh (26:38), Autumn Clark placed ninth (26:42) and Nora Peloquin placed 10th (27:17).
Northampton 26, Minnechaug 29 – The hosts took a tight victory for coach Linda Rowbotham’s 200th career win across cross country and track and field. Northampton’s top finishers were Maeve O’Neil (first, 19:52), Tess Geis-Benton (fourth, 22:10), Zea Meerbergen (fifth, 22:12), Zoe Engel (sixth, 22:58) and Kiki Goswami (10th, 23:35).
Girls soccer
Holyoke 13, Taconic 1 — How about a baker’s dozen for the Purple Knights? Holyoke put 25 shots on goal and it translated to a whopping 13 tallies on Monday.
Kyra Lippan netted five goals, Grace Bechard put home four while Kayshaly Garcia added three goals to pace the Knights. Issabella Byers scored as well in the win.
