High schools: Joshua Cole Domineq Sanchez lift Smith Vocational past St. Mary's

Joshua Cole and Domineq Sanchez each had 16 points in the Smith Vocational boys basketball team’s 58-34 road victory over St. Mary’s on Monday in Westfield.
Smith Voc scored 35 points in the first half, including a game-high 19 in the second quarter, to secure its first win of the season.
Jack Riley also played well for the Vikings (1-1), finishing the night with 13 points.
Smith Voc visits Veritas Prep next on Thursday. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m.
Frontier 70, Hampshire 45 – Max Millette poured in a game-high 22 points, and the Redhawks used a 23-3 edge in the second quarter to capture their second win in as many days to open the season on Monday.
Trailing 21-12 after one quarter, Frontier got to work in the second period thanks to six points apiece from Millette and Diego Frazier, who had 10 in the win. Garrett Dredge scored 14 points for the Hawks, and Rowan Modestow made it four players in double figures with 13.
Vynce Carr paced Hampshire with 20 points.
Pittsfield 47, Northampton 29 – The Blue Devils got off to a slow start, falling into a 10-2 hole after one quarter en route to an independent loss on Monday.

Liv Joensen led the way with eight points for Northampton (1-1) while Anna Oravec followed with seven.
Longmeadow 95, Amherst 85 – Rowan Albertson led the Hurricanes in the defeat against Longmeadow, finishing first in the 50 freestyle (25.52) and the 100 breaststroke (1:16.87).
Amherst’s 200-yard medley relay (1:59.67) and 200-yard freestyle relay (1:48.16) squads were victorious.
East Longmeadow 74, Easthampton 22 – Allison St. Pierre snagged the lone win for the Eagles, capturing the top spot in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 7 minutes, 29.69 seconds on Monday.
