Richard West: Many aided success of Historic Northampton

Many thanks for your April 12 editorial praising the progress Historic Northampton has made over the last several years (“Future stable for Historic Northampton”).
Everyone in Northampton should be grateful to Nancy Rexford for her tireless dedication at a critical time that stabilized one of city’s great assets.
However, no organization as big as Historic Northampton is the work of a single person. Throughout her tenure, Rexford received invaluable support and assistance from Kiki Smith, our president; Stan Sherer, our vice president and program director; and Marie Panik, our long-serving museum manager.
Since May of last year, Historic Northampton has been incredibly fortunate to be led by Laurie Sanders and Elizabeth Sharpe, our dynamic co-directors, who have worked long hours with great enthusiasm to make Historic Northampton the institution of history, learning, and engagement that this city deserves.
Historic Northampton is moving into the 21st century. We invite everyone in Northampton to join us on this exciting journey.
