I would like to formally introduce myself as one of the two candidates for the position of Granby town clerk. My name is Virginia Hajdamowicz and I believe we need a fresh set of eyes and a different perspective to improve our town. At my current position as the administrative assistant to the superintendent of Granby Public Schools, I have increased the communication and transparency among the district and to the families in my first few months. I have improved the school’s social media pages including Facebook and the website and I strongly believe I could do the same for the town.

We also need to increase the efficiency of the town. Having created and instituted processes at the school and in my previous positions, we need to work smarter and not harder. I have a background in many different fields and I believe having a diverse background will help find solutions to the opportunities within the town. I have learned new positions quickly and am able to find opportunities for improvement regardless of my environment. I’m open and will listen and pass along any messages our townspeople would like to have our boards consider but also be sure everyone has a voice whether they use social media or not.

I am involved in a number of groups within our town. I am the chair of the Granby Music Parents Association and attend all School Committee meetings to take minutes. I involve myself with many community pages found on Facebook and follow up on all the meetings that Granby Community Access covers. I also volunteer for Dakin Humane Society every week to help our animals and community in need.

I have always been a people person and have found that working directly with our townspeople has been the most rewarding experience. I know I can help our town more by working directly in the town offices. My work in the school system has been rewarding but after experiencing communication breakdowns within our town, I know I can do more for our townspeople.

I can learn processes and procedures and we should not only rely on experience to determine your vote. We should be looking at our town as moving forward and changing with the times. We need a fresh perspective. Thank you all for reading and vote Hajdamowicz on May 19!
