I travel South Main Street in Williamsburg quite often and it is a nice residential street. The houses are well kept, and the people are nice. Rarely do I see many bicyclists.

This whole project [“Rail trail objections lose out,” Gazette, July 2] seems to be just another example in our state and nation where the people have little or no say. All South Main really needs is repaving, but once state money is involved it gets out of hand.

The Select Board in Williamburg voted for the project against residents’ wishes. It will be interesting to see how the ones that voted for it make out in the next election. They are supposed to represent the wants/needs of the residents. In my opinion in this case they did not — this project will just mess up a nice neighborhood.
