I want to thank our Northampton and surrounding communities for their generous support of Northampton Survival Center and Grow Food Northampton in both food donations and funds.

As a weekly volunteer for the Northampton Survival Center and an observer on the ground of Grow Food, I would like to share with you how donations actually get to people they serve.

The Northampton Survival Center does give out food boxes to clients they meet outside who have cars. Many other clients, especially seniors and those who are disabled and lack cars who live in subsidized housing are able to get produce, meat, dairy, eggs, bread, and other items delivered directly to their front door.

Grow Food brings local produce and eggs directly to low-income housing and sets up a table that benefits families with young children, single people, elders and the disabled.

I hear the clients express how grateful they are and thankful for the food donations with both programs. The people who deserve the most thanks are our donors in the community because without you we would be very limited with what we could hand out to people.

Since I started volunteering with the Northampton Survival Center, I have never been so proud to be a native-born Northampton resident, to see how this community is helping those with food insecurity in the most practical and compassionate way. Well done, Northampton!
