High schools: Belchertown’s Sam Pacunas nets 9 goals in girls’ lacrosse win over South Hadley

Sam Pacunas poured in nine goals with an assist, as the Belchertown girls lacrosse team beat South Hadley 22-12 on Friday.
Belchertown’s Paige Magner (two assists) and Madysen Lepage (five assists) scored four times each. Adrien Wise (two assists) and Michelle Zaluga (assist) had two goals each. Grace Fillipelli found the net once for Belchertown.
South Hadley’s Raquel Losty and Ava Asselin had four goals each, while Audissey Hill, Mia Beaulieu, Emily Pilligan and Caitlin Dean found the net once each.
Minnechaug 16, Northampton 1 – Casey Barber scored in the second half for the Blue Devils.
Hampshire 11, Easthampton 0 – Edward Przybyla laced four singles with five RBIs scored two runs for the Raiders. Hampshire’s Drew Thompson doubled twice and threw a two-hitter. He struck out 12.
Zach Phakos added two hits for the Raiders, while Jack Boyle and Mikey Thompson each doubled.
Easthampton’s Anthony Incampo singled.
Holyoke 4, Amherst 3 – Anibal Diaz and Raul Lopez-Ofray had two hits each for the Purple Knights in a road win.

Central 10, Northampton 2 – Ben Sledzieski doubled among his two hits and scored a run for the Blue Devils. Northampton’s Ryan Crowther singled twice, while Caleb Steineger and Marty Maslowski had a hit each.
Gateway 18, Putnam 0 (5) – Olivia Dame (four runs) and Angela Magyar (two runs) each singled twice for the Gators.
Gateway’s Anna Sakaske drove in a run. Gateway pitcher Willow Hicks allowed just one hit with two walks and seven strikeouts.
Holyoke 18, Granby 6 – Quinlin Cook had three RBIs for the Rams in a road loss. Granby’s Cassie Flaherty added two hits and two RBIs, while Grace Roy and Eleanor Szlosek had an RBI each.
Taconic 12, Frontier 8 – Hailey Hutkoski singled twice and drove in a run, touching home three times for the Redhawks on the road.
Delaney Fifield singled twice and scored two runs. Frontier’s Skyler Steele had three hits, including a triple, and drove in three runs.
Granby 16, Smith Vocational 9 – Kaitlyn Curran (three runs), Cassandra Flaherty (two runs) and Lauren Parker (triple, two runs) drove in three runs each for the Rams on the road in action from Thursday.
Granby’s Quinlin Cook (two hits) and Grace Roy drove in two runs each, and Meredith Bartosz singled twice.
Smith Vocational’s Makayla Tatro had three hits and an RBI, scoring three runs. Jennifer Bouchard and Abby Desrochers had two hits and two RBIs each for the Vikings.
Belchertown 5, Pope Francis 0 – Ava Shea led the Orioles with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Katelyn Horky at No. 1 singles.
Amber Drummond bested Leane Vole 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2, while Anna Stamp bested Brooke Eastman 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3.
At No. 1 doubles, Katie Collins and Kasey Gibbons defeated Alex Watroba and Olivia Poppolo 7-5, 6-2.
The Orioles No. 2 pair of Amanda Murray and Emalee Chaissan won 6-2, 6-3 over Loma Corridan and Elizabeth Hanechak.
Central 2, Holyoke 1 – Sam Rodriguez earned a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles over Sydney Dodds for the Purple Knights.
Belchertown 3, Chicopee 0 – Brian Burns put down 12 kills with a block, as the Orioles won 25-20, 25-29, 25-16.
Connor White made three blocks with 10 kills, while Rainer Kristensen distributed 29 assists. Cam Buley fired four aces.
Granby 3, Sci-Tech 0 – Jake Gagnon had 14 assists, five kills and four aces for the Rams in a 25-19, 25-14, 25-23 victory.
Granby’s Michael Swanigan put down nine kills with five assists, three digs and two aces. The Rams’ Braeden Gallagher pulled up 14 digs.
Amherst Red Sox 13, Belchertown ESB 4 — Jesse Drinker and Oliver Howard had the hot bats for the Red Sox on Thursday, with Drinker going 4-for-4 (two singles, a double and a triple) and Howard going 3-for-3 (2 singles and a double). Agho Mankin and Nick Stinson also provided hits for the Sox. Drinker and Stinson each pitched two innings, combining for eight strikeouts.
Belchertown's two hits came off the bats of Zackary Ritter and Patrick Gibson, each hitting a double.
Amherst Red Sox 11, Belchertown McCarthy's 10 — Nick Stinson pitched two shutout innings to start the game for the Red Sox, and hit a double in the second. Agho Mankin, Grant Charlebois, Liam Chalif, Kai Schwartz, and Nolan Ingram (triple) also had hits.
Nick Hodgen hit a double in the third and scored a run for Belchertown. The Belchertown offense really came to life in the fourth and fifth innings, with hits from Noah Acin, Noah Pellesier (double), Roghan Auffrey, Maksym Gomes, Jacek Lavoie (double) and Jack Hodgen.
Amherst 18, Northampton 3 – Northampton took a 2-0 lead before Amherst came alive in the fourth inning to roar back for the win.
Amherst’s Oliver Howard went 3-for-3 and Jonah Sommers doubled while pitchers Nolan Ingram and Cyrus Arwade allowed just three total runs in five innings.
Sunderland Delta Sand and Gravel 8, Amherst Royals 3 — Emmett Owens broke the shutout with a steal of home in the fifth after reaching on a single for the Royals. Hakan Amara and Luke Levangie contributed singles, Alex Miller doubled, and Cyrus Arwade was 3-for-3 with a single and two doubles.
