AMHERST — An Amherst Police response to the Town Common for a fight, allegedly involving one person wielding a large knife, led to two arrests Tuesday evening, according to police.

Detective Lt. William Menard said officers went to the Town Common at 7:21 p.m. after reports of people trying to get a knife away from one man.

Tyrone A. Wallace, 39, who gave an address as the streets of Amherst, was identified as the person with the knife, though no knife was found, Menard said.

Wallace was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct, Menard said.

Also involved in the incident was Stuart A. LaRose, 32, of Springfield, who was arrested on a default warrant, Menard said.

No one was injured during the incident.
