Girls lacrosse: Belchertown, South Hadley will meet for Class B title after semifinal wins

NORTHAMPTON – Adrien Wise put away five of her six goals in the first half, as No. 4 Belchertown upended top-seeded Northampton 18-15 on Sunday in the Western Massachusetts girls lacrosse semifinals.
Sam Pacunas (assist) and Paige Magner added five goals each for the Orioles. Belchertown’s Madysen LePage contributed nine assists.
Orioles goalie Emma Almeida turned away nine shots.
Belchertown trailed 7-5 after a back and forth first 20 minutes, then Wise scored twice to knot the game at 7.
Teagan McDonald (two assists) returned the lead to Northampton 8-7 with one of her six goals with 5:02 to halftime, but Belchertown’s Magner scored back to back goals to give the Orioles the lead for good.
Belchertown scored four goals in a row to take an 11-8 advantage with 21:07 on the clock and led by fewer than two goals after that.
Northampton goalie Ainsley Dawson made 13 saves. Eloise Ruberti also scored six goals for Northampton, while Kaydence Braman, Olivia Wright (assist) and Maya Berman-Lagier (assist) contributed a goal each.
The final will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Agawam.
